Setting your days off just got faster and friendlier. You can now write a custom message clients see when they try to book on a closed date, add national holidays with one click from a suggestion list, and edit any scheduled closure right from the list — no need to delete and re-add. Here's how it all works.
Where to find it
Go to Schedule > Time-off/closure. The page ("Schedule: Days off") has the add form at the top, your current closures below it, and a new "Suggested holidays" card underneath.
1. Tell clients why you're closed
When someone tries to book on a day you're closed, they used to see a generic "facility is closed" notice. Now you can replace it with your own words.
In the add form there's a new "Closed-day message" box (up to 500 characters, optional). Whatever you type shows on the booking date-picker in place of the generic notice — so instead of a dead end, clients get context.
Example: "Closed for Thanksgiving. We reopen Friday at 7am — pickups by arrangement, please text us."
Leave it blank and clients see the standard "facility is closed" message as before.
2. Add national holidays in one click
Scroll to the "Suggested holidays" card. PawsAdmin lists upcoming national holidays for your country, each with an "Add" button that schedules a facility closure for that date — pre-filled with the holiday's name as the calendar note.
- We guess your country automatically from your browser's time zone, shown at the top of the card (e.g. "Suggested for United States").
- Wrong country? Use the "change to" dropdown — United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and Australia are supported.
- Holidays already on your calendar, and any that have passed, are hidden so the list stays clean.
- Done with the card? Click "Dismiss."
3. Set a default closed-day message for holidays
The card has its own "Closed-day message" box at the top. Type a message once and it's applied to every holiday you add from the card — so you don't retype it for each one.
This default is saved in your browser (you'll see "Saved in your browser"), so it's remembered next time you open the page. It's per-browser, not account-wide — set it again if you switch computers. Use the "clear" link to forget it.
4. Edit a closure without deleting it
Every row in "Current days booked off" now has an "Edit" link (pencil icon) on its Calendar Notes. Click it to edit two things inline:
- Calendar Notes — your internal label for the closure.
- Closed-day message — the client-facing message from step 1.
Click "Save" and the row updates in place. "Cancel" backs out with no change. The custom message, when set, shows under the notes with a small comment icon so you can tell at a glance which closures have one.
What clients see
On the booking date-picker, picking a closed date shows your custom message if you set one, or the standard "facility is closed" notice if you didn't. Either way they're nudged to choose another date.
Pro tip
Write one good default message in the Suggested holidays card before you start clicking "Add" — then a whole year of holidays goes on the calendar in seconds, each already explaining the closure to your clients.
